My Travel Essentials & Top Tips

We have been doing quite a bit of traveling recently and just got back from our first international trip with a baby! I know some of you might be traveling during the holiday season too, so I wanted to put together some of my travel essentials and top tips to help make your travel a smooth ride!

P.S. If you are a fellow mama, I also have a blog on Travel Essentials When Traveling W/ a Baby where I list out all my must-have travel items for baby!

Cozy airport fit
My airport vibe is 100% comfy cozy. It’s really important to me to have an outfit that I will be comfortable sitting in for a long flight, because airplanes are already uncomfortable enough on their own lol. My airport fits are always Vitality (are you surprised?) and usually consist of either sweatpants or leggings and a hoodie! Some of my very favorite Vitality pieces for the airport recently are our Cozy Sets and Studio Sets. I personally think there’s nothing cuter or comfier than a matching sweat set, so it’s really a win win! I also really love wearing our Cloud II or Daydream Pant because the fabric is incredibly soft and stretchy, so there’s no digging at my waist while sitting on the plane. I always make sure and bring a jacket on the plane as well so I don’t get cold (and because I have a weird thing about touching airplane seats).

Wear comfy shoes
There’s a whole lot of walking done in a travel day, so wearing comfy shoes is a must. My personal go-to shoes for the airport are these Nikes.

Luggage
My absolute favorite luggage is the Away Luggage. I have had both their carry on and large size bags for yearsss and they are incredible quality and can fit a lot of items.

Belt bag for hands free storage
Now that I am a mom I constantly have a million items in my hands at all times. So I like to wear our Vitality belt bag when at the airport so there’s one less thing for me to have in my hands.

Stay organized
We all know TSA can be chaos and there’s nothing worse than struggling to find your documents with a whole line of people behind you. So I like to bring this adorable customized travel document holder to keep the whole family’s IDs, passports, etc. in one place so I can easily pull it out at TSA or customs! It is also super helpful to avoid losing any important items because everything is zipped up in one place.

Noise canceling headphones
Airplanes can be realllly noisy, so I always bring my noise cancelling AirPods and usually listen to a show or movie!

Bring entertainment for the plane
Speaking of….be sure to prep your entertainment for the plane ahead of time! If you don’t want to pay for in-flight wifi you’ll want to download your TV shows or movies ahead of time. I bring my iPad to watch shows and then also bring my Kindle if I’m in the mood to read.

Bring hand sanitizer or disinfectant wipes
I’m a weirdo about plane germs (especially now that I have a little one), so I always bring disinfectant wipes to wipe down our area and then hand sanitizer as well! Don’t wanna get sick on vacation!!

Pack Snacks
I get anxiety flying, so I’m not always that hungry…but I always pack snacks just in case! There’s nothing worse than being hungry when you’re stuck in the sky (and the airplane snacks are crazy expensive)! My favorite snacks are the Vermont Turkey Jerky and Mint Power Crunch Bars.

Chew gum for takeoff and landing
I’m sure everyone is already aware of this trick, but incase you’re not….be sure to chew gum for take off and landing! This will help to avoid pressure build up in your ears.

That covers everything! I know traveling can be SO stressful, so hopefully this gives you some good tips to make your travel experience a bit better and helps you feel more prepared for any travel plans you have coming up.

XOXO, TAY
